Mór 2024
Following its initial success, the Read Mór Book Gifting initiative has become an annual nationwide event which aims to share the joy of reading with diverse communities, in particular with people who may not be able to participate in Culture Night activities.
It also supports Irish and Irish based authors and promotes reading for pleasure.
For its third edition, Read Mór will be rolled out in partnership with the Irish Prison Service. On the 20 September the Arts Council, via Read Mór, will gift a curated list of 30 book titles from some of Ireland’s most beloved writers to all 13 prisons nationwide. The list of books was developed in consultation with teaching staff from the Irish Prison Service, and will offer a diverse selection of novels, short stories and poetry, reflecting the vibrant literary landscape of Ireland. Seven prisons will also host events featuring readings and discussions with participating authors.

Read Mór 2023
The Read Mór book gifting project returned for a second year in 2023. This time patients in selected hospitals across the country had an opportunity to participate in Culture Night and escape to the furthest reaches of their imagination
with a choice of 29 different books by Irish based authors and publishers. The Arts Council was proud to partner up with HSE Healthy Ireland. Read Mór ensured that more people in more places enjoyed Culture Night.
