
Creative Associate Development Training – Embedding Creativity across the Curriculum
A training session for Creative Associates about embedding creativity across the
curriculum was held in August 2021, with special support from the Inspectorate division
of the Department of Education. The guest contributors were; Fiona Rushe from the
Evaluation Support and Research Unit, Department of Education Inspectorate; Gary Ó
Donnchadha, Deputy Chief Inspector, Department of Education; and Ruth Brown, Head of
the Creative Arts Faculty in Duchess’s Community High School, Northumberland.

2021 CA development training – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
In August 2021 two sessions for Creative Associates were held to support discourse within Creative Schools in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Session 1: Equality of Participation:
This session focused on equality of participation for children and young people with disabilities, and the inclusion of artists with disabilities in creative engagement work in schools. This session was organised with support from Arts and Disability
Ireland (ADI) and featured presentations from jazz artist Emilie Conway, and Pádraig Naughton, Executive Director of ADI.

Session 2: Inclusion and Cultural Diversity:
This session focused on inclusion and cultural diversity, with an emphasis on collaborative practice, and on multilingualism in the classroom. This session was organised with support from CREATE – the National Development Agency for Collaborative Arts,
and featured presentations by; artist Tomasz Madajczak; Dr Francesca La Morgia, the founding director of Mother Tongues; and Áine Crowley, Programme Manager, Arts and Engagement with CREATE.

2021 Creative Associate End of Year Reflection Sessions
Marking the end of a challenging year, the Reflection Sessions facilitated discussions provided an opportunity for Creative Associates to share experiences, and to reflect on the work and activities carried out by schools, the involvement of young people
and children, and on how Creative Associates and school communities have supported this.
